How to execute a goal?
4DX will help you to achieve your goals. 4DX is also known as 4 disciplines of execution. The 4DX are as follows:
Discipline#1: Focus on Highly Important.
According to this discipline the more you try to do, the less you actually accomplish. Due this your execution should be aimed at a small number of highly important goals. This will help you to achieve your goals.
Discipline#2: Act On Lead Measures
Once you have identified highly important goal, then you need to measure your success. There are two types of metrics for this purpose: lag measures and lead measures. Lag measures are the things that you are trying to improve while the lead measures are the things that will drive success on the lag measures. For example, if you are trying to increase the customer satisfaction in your bakery, then the lag measure is your customer satisfaction scores, while the lead measure might be the number of customers who receive free samples.
Discipline#3: Keep a Compelling Scoreboard.
By keeping the scoreboard, it creates a sense of competition that drive us to focus on these measures. It also provides a source of motivation. It's important that you should have a place to record and track your lead measures. In the scoreboard you had to write your performance for a week. By this you can see that your performance is going down or up. If your performance is going down then you will have a chance to improve it.
Discipline#4: Create A Cadence Of Accountability.
The final step is to focus on lead measures in a place,“ A rhythm of regular and frequent tasks of a person who is having a highly important task”. During these tasks, the person much confront his scoreboard, commit to specific actions to improve the score before another task and describe what happened at the last task. It is then disciplined where ‘execution really happens’.
